Florida Turnpike Gets Funding To Expand Broadband In M-CORES Corridors
WJXT reports, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed the bill (HB 969) that “sets aside up to $5 million a year for Florida’s Turnpike Enterprise to develop broadband infrastructure as part of the [M-CORES toll roads program]. The measure also shifts broadband policy responsibilities from the Department of Management Services to the Department of Economic Opportunity and creates a Florida Office of Broadband to develop, market and promote the services.”

AASHTO Journal reports, the Oklahoma Department of Transportation is updating its long-range transportation plan and inviting public comment “to help establish overall priorities and goals for various modes of travel and freight movement in the state. . . . Comments via the plan’s website will be accepted between June 2 and June 23, followed by a ‘formal’ public comment period from June 29 to July 29 where feedback will be accepted by email, mail, or phone.” The article adds, an earlier round of comment revealed that safety is the public’s top transportation concern. Eighty-four percent of survey respondents agreed that ODOT “should work to improve existing highway and bridge conditions even if it meant taxpayers being asked to pay a little more.”
