Some North Carolina Toll Rates Will Rise January 1
The North Carolina Turnpike Authority (NCTA) announced yesterday that the annual increase of toll rates for the Triangle Expressway and the Monroe Expressway will take on Saturday, New Year’s Day. According to a news release, “The North Carolina Turnpike Authority Board adopted schedules of incremental annual toll rate increases for both [highways] based on the financing requirements for each project.” For passenger car drivers with an NC Quick Pass or compatible transponder account, the cost of a trip across the entire Triangle Expressway will increase by 11 cents (approximately three percent). Those same customers who travel the full length of the Monroe Expressway will pay an additional six cents (approximately two percent more). Complete toll rate information is online.
