Kapsch's 405 Express ETC System Cleared Nearly 150,000 Transactions On Day One
Kapsch TrafficCom issued a news release heralding the recent opening of the I-405 Express Lanes in Orange County, California, and the launch of the FasTrak toll collection system designed and installed by Kapsch for OCTA, the county’s transportation authority. The state-of-the-art system — completed ahead of schedule, Kapsch noted — provides commuters “with an array of options including HOV3+ and time of day features.” On December 1, the first day of regular operation, OCTA processed nearly 150,000 transactions. JB Kendrick, Kapsch TrafficCom North America president, praised OCTA for its leadership in “transcend[ing] conventional transportation norms,” and advancing California toll initiatives. She also commented that Kapsch’s collaboration with the agency showcased its design team’s “ability to surmount complex challenges and continually refine our solutions to align with the unique geography of our clients.” She added, “We enjoy solving complex issues and continuing to improve our solutions as we customize them to fit our customer’s unique geography.”
