MDX Has Distributed $4.8 Million In Frequent Driver Rewards
CBS News Miami reports, the Miami-Dade Expressway Authority has mailed more than 60,000 checks to customers registered in the Frequent Driver Rewards Program. (Drivers who paid $100 or more in tolls on MDX facilities between July 2019 and June 2021 and are eligible to receive a 15- percent refund.) The combined total of the checks distributed is $4.8 million. “The agency’s governing board established the rewards program as a way to reduce tolls paid by daily commuters and small local businesses on the MDX system.”

Associated Press investigates the reasons for the widespread shortage of snowplow operators, noting that “[m]ore U.S. drivers could find themselves stuck on snowy highways or have their travel delayed this winter” as a consequence. “States from Washington to Pennsylvania, including Montana and Wyoming in the Rocky Mountains, are having trouble finding enough people willing to take the comparatively low-paying jobs that require a Commercial Driver’s License and often entail working at odd hours in dangerous conditions.”

Daily Freeman reports, the New York State Bridge Authority has posted a video of the recent demolition of the Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge toll plaza. The operation took place on December 2, the day following the bridge’s conversion to all-electronic tolling.
