ConstructionEquipmentGuide.com provides an in-depth progress update on Florida DOT’s $865.3-million Howard Frankland Bridge design-build project, which aims to reduce traffic congestion and improve safety on the heavily traveled Old Tampa Bay crossing. An Archer Western (Walsh Group) and Traylor Brothers joint venture has nearly completed design work and is using 50 barges to advance foundation and substructure work. Ultimate goals include rehabilitating one existing span and replacing another. The new span will have four general purpose and four tolled express lanes.
An FDOT-Tampa project website includes several construction images.
