Richmond Transportation Authority Issues RFP For Toll Systems Replacement
The Richmond Metropolitan Transportation Authority (RMTA) today advertised a request for proposals, the intent of which is to “invite all toll systems integrators having specific minimum qualifications to submit a proposal to replace the RMTA’s Open Road Tolling (ORT) systems at the Downtown Expressway and Powhite Parkway” and provide system maintenance services. RMTA seeks a solution that is “based on an existing production system and therefore anticipates minimal customization.” The dates and details of a mandatory, in-person proposal conference and site visit are included in the RFP, which can be downloaded from RMTA’s website and from www.eva.virginia.gov.

Star Tribune reports, “Drivers using the E-ZPass [formerly MnPASS] lane on northbound Interstate 35E can make a continuous trip from downtown St. Paul to the northeast suburbs now that the state Department of Transportation has connected a [three-mile] gap in the lane. The agency this month converted a general traffic lane between Little Canada Road and County Road E to a high-occupancy toll lane (HOT) to eliminate driver confusion and keep violators from entering, said MnDOT spokeswoman Sue Gergen.”
