TX Lawmaker Cites "Toll Fatigue" as Some Agencies Move to Scrap Tolls for the First Time in 40 Years

Associated Press reports, “Texas officials have recently moved to scrap tolls on several highways for the first time in 40 years, bucking a national trend toward more tolls on mostly urban roadways to shift the costs of transportation to those who use the roads.” State Representative Joe Pickett (D-El Paso) tells the wire service, “The common theme is just toll fatigue.” AP also talks with experts who explain why tolling has spread in an era of diminished federal government support for highways.
