Kansas Provides COVID-19 Vaccination And Testing At Turnpike Service Areas
KSNT reports, “You can now get vaccinated and tested for COVID while driving across Kansas. The state’s health department is partnering with Blue Cross Blue Shield Kansas and The Kansas Turnpike Authority to offer vaccine and testing clinics along the Kansas Turnpike.”
WIBW reports, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) established vaccination and testing sites at three turnpike service areas that continue in operation today. “Receiving the vaccine continues to be the best way to stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus,” said Lee Norman, MD, KDHE secretary. “Through this partnership with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas and the Kansas Turnpike Authority, the vaccine will be more accessible to travelers,” including out-of-state residents, “allowing for further protection for all Kansans.”

Sponsors of the America’s Transportation Awards recently awarded the Monroe Expressway, the North Carolina DOT-built and North Carolina Turnpike Authority-operated tollway in Mecklenburg County, a regional “Best Use of Technology & Innovation” award in recognition of the application of all-electronic tolling to improve safety and reduce travel time for motorists. DOT projects in four other southern states also earned awards that qualify the recipients as potential competitors for two national prizes to be announced this fall. (AASHTO, AAA and the US Chamber of Commerce confer competitive project awards annually in several categories.)
Union County Weekly reports on the turnpike authority’s response to its recognition.
