"Anti-Heroin Crusader" Arrested at Holland Tunnel with Weapons Array Pleads Guilty, but Will Seek Pardon

NJ.com reports, “The Pennsylvania gun range owner and anti-heroin crusader stopped outside the Holland Tunnel with a cache of weapons in his truck last year pleaded guilty Monday to two weapons charges.” Port authority police seized a shotgun, an assault rifle with high-capacity magazines, five handguns and a pair of knives from the truck as it approached New York City. The man’s attorney has said he plans to request a pardon from Governor Chris Christie.

Maine AG Says Police Officer Was Justified in Firing His Gun on Turnpike to End Epic Chase

Portland Press Herald reports that Maine’s attorney general has concluded that a police officer was justified in trying to shoot out the tires of a front-end loader that had been stolen by two rampaging teenagers. The incident occurred on the Maine Turnpike in September 2016 during an epic, slow-speed chase. The teens had endangered motorists and caused considerable property damage before being stopped.
