California’s FasTrak Website Gets A Makeover

FasTrak.org, a toll customer information resource and a portal to every California toll system’s website, has been redesigned for easier use and faster navigation, the Transportation Corridor Agencies (TCA) announced last week. “The California Toll Operators Committee (CTOC), a collaborative organization comprised of the state’s toll facility operators which includes [TCA], unveiled [the new site] to better serve the six million FasTrak accountholders as well as the millions of toll facilities’ customers throughout the state.” In addition to a fresh look and feel, the website features a responsive map of all toll facilities with contact information for the authorities that operate them. TCA was the first agency in the state to utilize FasTrak, and it continues to hold the system’s trademark and license. It “works with partner agencies to promote the tolling system.”

New York Thruway Receives Grant To Plan Grand Island Bridges Rehabilitation

The New York State Thruway Authority announced last week it received a roughly $1.6 million planning grant for the rehabilitation of the Grand Island Bridges. The bridges, two pairs of one-way spans, carry I-190 north and south across the Niagara River within a 21-mile corridor that links Buffalo with Niagara Falls. The authority stated the grant will allow it “to formulate a comprehensive framework” for the aging bridges’ future. Thruway executive director Frank Hoare noted that the spans “are iconic gateways that serve millions of vehicles per year traveling to and from popular destinations nationally and internationally and [are] part of a vital commercial corridor that links an estimated $23.7 billion in US-Canada freight trade.” The grant was made available through USDOT’s Bridge Investment Program, with funding from the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA).
