Louisiana Launches New GeauxPass Back-Office System And User Interface

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LaDOTD) announced that new user interface and back-office functions of GeauxPass, the agency’s toll collection system, are now live. Redesigned invoices are being issued to customers for tolls incurred after November 20, the date the transition took effect. The invoices are also payable online via a modernized web interface. The final invoices have been issued from the previous back-office system, and these remain payable online via a different portal on the GeauxPass website. Drivers who receive invoices for toll charges more than 90 days old are asked to contact the attorney general’s office at collectionsinfo@ag.louisiana.gov or by phone at 225-326-6550 or 1-800-423-2129.

TRN notes that Plenary Infrastructure was selected in 2021 to upgrade the GeauxPass back-office system, and the upgrades were premiered in June.

With Another $4 Million, Illinois Counties Can Make New Bridge Toll-Free

According to a news release from Kane and McHenry Counties, Illinois, local officials are nearing a goal of eliminating the need to partially finance Kane’s Longmeadow Parkway Bridge Corridor Project with tolls. The McHenry County Board recently approved dedicating $1 million in federal pandemic relief funds to the bridge project. Combined with a recently secured $30 million in state appropriations, the new money puts Kane, Cook and McHenry Counties closer to finding the $35 million they need to reverse a long-standing plan to electronically toll the bridge scheduled to open next year along the 5.6-mile-long parkway corridor. “This is an example of regional collaboration at its finest,” commented McHenry County Board Chairman Mike Buehler (R). “Not only are we partnering with our Kane County neighbors, but we’re also making a thoughtful and impactful investment in our region’s infrastructure and business community without having to charge a toll saving our residents millions of dollars. It’s a win, win, win.”

The parkway corridor, under development for years, but several setbacks have delayed its completion.

Looking For Some Holiday Excitement? Consider A Drive Across FDOT's I-75 Tollway.

WKMG reports, Florida DOT’s I-75 tollway, opened in 1968, is considered an ideal place for tourists to spot alligators, not to mention “other types of wildlife native to swamplands, such as turtles, herons and pythons. Even Florida panthers are known to roam the area, as indicated by the number of wildlife crossing signs posted along the roadway.” And, in WKMG’s opinion, visitors can enjoy a sightseeing experience that is “relatively safe thanks to the overpasses and high fences along the road.” The toll highway originally got its moniker — Alligator Alley — from AAA, which maintained it would attract more reptiles than drivers. However, the designation became official when a savvy Collier County commissioner decided it would draw tourists.
