Kapsch's Tolltickets Payment Solution Unveils New Website And Expands Into France

Kapsch TrafficCom announced that it has added France to the list of 15 countries served by its tolltickets subsidiary, which provides an efficient and convenient method of electronic toll payment. Motorists can order any of the firm’s various “toll boxes” or vignettes online and have the item shipped by mail. Following this week’s announcement, customers have the option to purchase a single transponder that facilitates toll payment across France, Italy, Spain and Portugal. Although tolltickets is particularly useful for vacationing continental motorists, it also provides business travelers and transport companies with a comprehensive solution for fleet tolling management. Kapsch also unveiled tolltickets’ new web shop design that features comprehensive product information and simplified navigation. The result, says Kapsch, is that “[w]ith just a few clicks, customers can access vital details about tolls, making their journey planning easier than ever before. To further enhance customer support, tolltickets has also enhanced its 24/7 telephone hotline, ensuring round-the-clock assistance whenever needed.” Quentin Couret, tolltickets’ managing director, commented, “France represents a significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to providing customers with a great mobility experience. Because we believe mobility is a right for all, our intention is to bring an easy-to-use, reliable, and affordable mobility solution for all in Europe.”

Researchers Propose Quantitative Modeling Framework For Evaluating PennDOT Bridge Tolling

The Center Square (Pennsylvania) reports on a published study of a framework for modeling and simulating the range of impacts that tolling PennDOT bridges would have. Funded by USDOT and produced for the benefit of the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission by Carnegie Mellon University, the research “illustrates the trade-offs” that would occur if the department introduced bridge tolling to make up for the growing shortfall in fuel tax revenues, its principal source of surface transportation funding. According to The Center Square, the study shows that tolling would yield significant revenue but cause increases in travel time and emissions as a result of traffic diversion. An author of the study, noting that transportation funding has been a controversial topic in Pennsylvania, expects that quantitative modeling on a large scale will help policy makers find an effective and publicly acceptable alternative to reliance on fuel taxation.
