Kansas Turnpike Is One Year Away From Eliminating Cash Collection

The Kansas Turnpike Authority (KTA) is set to go cashless and ticketless in one year, WDAF reports. Its conversion plan, announced in 2020, was delayed somewhat by the pandemic, but KTA has now completed the installation of ETC hardware at some interchanges. KTAG account holders will enjoy a 30 percent discount on rates compared to drivers who choose to be billed by mail. After the new system goes live, KTA will remove all its obsolete tollbooths, the news of which already has some travelers nostalgic for those icons of American motoring.
