Ferrovial Celebrates Completion Of New Dallas-Fort Worth TEXpress Lanes

Ferrovial executives and public officials held a ribbon-cutting ceremony today to celebrate completion of the third segment of the North Tarrant Express (NTE) 35W project. According to a company news release, the project cost more than $1 billion and stretched 6.7-miles from North Tarrant Parkway to Eagle Parkway in Fort Worth. In addition to adding to the TEXpress managed lanes network, Ferrovial reconstructed adjacent general purpose lanes and expanded frontage roads. “A concession led by Ferrovial subsidiary Cintra financed and designed the new highway system and will operate and maintain this segment [on behalf of TxDOT].” The company’s junior equity partners in the concession include Meridiam and APG. “Completed three months ahead of schedule, the roadway was constructed by Ferrovial Construction and Webber, also subsidiaries of Ferrovial.”

Fort Worth Star-Telegram recently reported on the early completion of the project, noting that the I-35 West segment “was the most congested roadway in Texas when construction started in 2020, but now ranks 32nd. Almost 300,000 vehicles use I-35W per day between downtown and Eagle Parkway.”
