Former FBI Official Becomes PANYNJ Security Chief
The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ) announced that Greg Ehrie became its new chief security officer on December 12. During a 22-year career with the FBI, Ehrie held a number of senior leadership roles, including section chief of the Domestic Terrorism Operations Section and special agent in charge of intelligence at the New York field office. He was formerly a vice president and the chief of security at the Anti-Defamation League. Ehrie replaces John Bilich, who will retire December 23 after holding PANYNJ’s top security post since 2017. Authority CEO Rick Cotton praised Bilich, saying, “His tireless efforts to keep the agency’s assets, employees, and customers safe over the last eight years have been superb. The region is grateful for his service.” The chief security officer oversees emergency management, agency-wide security operations and the PANYNJ Police Department.

News Center Maine reports, the Maine Turnpike, the nation’s “second super highway,” is marking its seventy-fifth anniversary today. The 109-mile-long tollway running from Kittery to Augusta “is one of the state’s busiest stretches of road, carrying 10 percent of the state’s traffic and about 55 percent of the state’s freight.” The article looks at the highway’s construction and the legislature’s decision in the 1970s to keep the facility tolled and under management of an independent authority. Turnpike spokesperson Erin Courtney says customers are being invited to stop at the authority’s headquarters in Portland to pick up a commemorative gift.
