TCA Chief Executive Samuel Johnson Resigns
The Transportation Corridor Agencies (TCA) today announced that CEO Samuel Johnson has resigned, effective November 25. Johnson has been on paid administrative leave since September 5 during “an independent investigation into serious allegations of misconduct.” In a statement, the chairs of TCA’s two boards said, “As soon as we learned of the allegations against Mr. Johnson we took swift action — placing him on leave before the next business day and bringing in an outside firm to conduct a thorough investigation. . . . Before our Boards could act on the findings of the investigation, Mr. Johnson submitted his resignation.” The officials emphasized that management operations will not be disrupted by Johnson’s departure, and they praised acting CEO Valarie McFall (Johnson’s former deputy) and CFO Amy Potter for their performance in Johnson’s absence. McFall will continue acting as CEO until the board finds a permanent replacement for Johnson. TCA said it would provide no information about the alleged misconduct “[d]ue to confidentiality laws and requirements.”
Voice of OC reports, Ms. McFall said in a telephone interview this morning that the circumstances of Johnson’s leave and resignation are confidential because they are “just personnel related” and have nothing to do with “financial malfeasance.”

WBND reports, the season of snow and ice has started in the upper Midwest. Yesterday morning, drivers in the Michiana region experienced slick and snowy road conditions that triggered 19 “slide-offs” and 15 crashes (none involving serious injury). Rick Fedder, the Indiana Toll Road’s chief operating officer, urged motorists to avoid following too closely and adjust their speed to road conditions. “A lot of times, you see those trucks that may have slid off the road or cars that may have slid off the road, a lot of times, speed is a factor,” he told WBND. “If you have to back it down to 45, or even less than that given the conditions of the road, do that, and you’ll avoid a lot of those situations.”
