Five Firms Submit Proposals For A San Antonio Airport Transit System

San Antonio Express-News reports, five firms, including the Boring Company, have submitted proposals to the the Alamo Regional Mobility Authority for “projects to move visitors and residents between San Antonio International Airport and downtown.” The authority invited proposals in October after reviewing “an apparently unsolicited plan from The Boring Co. for an [underground] airport-to-downtown transportation loop.” The RMA declined the newspaper’s request for copies of the five proposals, but one of the competing companies, Praetor Capital, agreed to share details of its plan “that would rely on autonomous, electric vehicles running on guide rails, both above ground and underground.”

Severe Central US Windstorm Disrupts Highway Travel, Closes Nebraska Toll Bridge

News Channel Nebraska reports, the Plattsmouth toll  bridge, which spans the Missouri River  between Nebraska and Iowa, was closed most of yesterday due to high winds. It was due to reopen late last night.

The Washington Post reports, yesterday’s powerful windstorm in the central US created dust clouds, hampered travel and caused multiple power outages. “More than 36 million people from New Mexico to Michigan were under high-wind warnings, as gusts of up to 100 mph sent roofs flying and toppled tractor-trailers on highways from Colorado to Iowa. . . . The storms came just days after devastating tornadoes in nine states over the weekend, and while there were scattered reports of damaged homes and structures, there were no reports of mass casualties as of early [this morning].”

Indian Farmers Continue To Block Toll Roads In Punjab

The Indian Express reports, Indian farmers have discontinued many of the strike actions, including toll road blockades, that forced the Union government to repeal three controversial agricultural laws last month. However, Punjab farmers have continued shutdowns of about two dozen toll plazas in protest of recent rate hikes. A farm union leader said the actions will continue as long as the toll increases remain in effect. A National Highways Authority of India official says most of the increases resulted from annual rate adjustments, but others were implemented following the completion of improvements.
