Massachusetts Traffic Has Largely Rebounded From Pandemic Dips
According to State House News Service (via WBUR), MassDOT Highway Administrator Jonathan Gulliver reported yesterday that traffic, “for all intents and purposes, is back to about 2019 levels on most roadways in Massachusetts at this point,” although volume on the state turnpike, particularly near Boston, is still “running a little bit lower” than before the onset of COVID-19. Gulliver also told the MassDOT board familiar commuting patterns have shifted during the pandemic. He predicted “we’re in for a really major adjustment period that’s going to occur throughout the fall and early winter before things settle.”
