The Detroit-Windsor Tunnel Remains Open
Detroit-Windsor Tunnel social media posts note that the facility is open and in operation. Yesterday, Canada announced that it is barring entry to all travelers who are not Canadian citizens or permanent residents, but it expressly exempted US citizens from the travel ban.

The Mackinac Bridge Authority indefinitely suspended its driver assistance program yesterday to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. It encouraged customers who use the program (those who feel uncomfortable driving themselves across the bridge) “to make other arrangements before arriving at the bridge.”

Michigan DOT announced it is exempting motor carriers and drivers who provide “direct assistance in support of relief efforts related to the COVID-19 outbreaks” from seasonal weight restrictions imposed under MCL 257.722 Sec (8). “Knowing the importance of getting food and other supplies to retailers during this time, we are taking steps to ensure carriers can make deliveries as quickly and efficiently as possible,” said MDOT Director Paul Ajegba.

KSNT reports, “Drivers using the Kansas Turnpike in the coming weeks may be seeing more orange that usual. The Kansas Turnpike Authority has several projects slated for this spring, located from the Oklahoma state line to the Kansas City area. Some of the changes came at the request of the freight community, according to KTA spokesperson Rachel Bell.”
