NY State Bridge Project Is Finished Below-Budget and Ahead of Schedule

Times Herald-Record reports, the New York State Bridge Authority announced that its two-year rehabilitation project on the I-84 bridge over Route 9W is finished — ahead of schedule and at a cost $725,000 below the $14.7 million budget. NYSBA commission chair Richard Gerentine attributed the successful outcome to an “aggressive schedule” pursued by the authority and its contractor, A. Servidone Inc. of Castleton-on-Hudson, New York. Said Gerentine, “We were fortunate to have a very good contractor.″ The article notes, NYSBA “considered the project a necessary predicate to its next undertaking, replacing the battered deck on the Newburgh-Beacon’s north span” at an estimated cost of $90 million.
