The Illinois Tollway Authority announced it will host an open house next Tuesday evening, June 25, “to share information about 2019 construction and workforce training opportunities as part of the $719 million TriState Tollway (I-294)/I-57 Interchange Project. The authority’s news release notes that it is “advancing work to complete the interchange connecting I-294 to I-57. This final stage of work now scheduled for 2019-2022 will build ramps providing access to and from Chicago, improving regional mobility that began with the completion of ramps providing access to and from Champaign in 2014.”

The Rhode Island Office of Energy Resources (OER) named RIDOT winner of the annual Lead By Example Clean Energy Award in the state agency category. According to OER, “The Department of Transportation has worked continuously to convert 7,700 RI-owned highway streetlights to LED, making DOT a national leader in this endeavor. Wireless controls allow operators to monitor and control the streetlights remotely. The new streetlights improve driving conditions and slash lighting energy consumption by half. DOT also installed three electric charging stations and a new state-of-the-art building automation system.”

NJ.com reports that an overnight crash on the port authority’s Outerbridge Crossing caused major traffic delays this morning on the New Jersey Turnpike, the Garden State Parkway and secondary routes. Although the bridge reportedly reopened at 7 AM, significant backups are reported.
