PA Turnpike Plazas Will Offer Special Summertime Activities And Open Dedicated Children's Areas
The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) is introducing new “customer experiences and activities” at several service plazas to coincide with major events taking place in the state this summer.
- Visitors to several plazas in the southeastern part of the state will be offered special promotions and activities, including soccer-themed photo opportunities, while metro Philadelphia hosts FIFA World Cup matches from June 14 through July 4.
- The sports-themed experiences will continue at the same plazas between July 10 and July 14, as Philadelphia hosts the Major League Baseball All-Star Game.
- Three service plazas near Philadelphia will provide motorists with a 3D chalk art experience that blends World Cup and America250 imagery by artist Erik Greenawalt.
- PTC will provide customers traveling during the July 4 holiday with patriotic-themed giveaways, promotions, and in-plaza activities.
Also, this summer, the commission is opening a permanent children’s activity area at each of its 17 service plazas. Based on successful holiday-themed activity zones PTC created in 2025, the new facilities will “offer families screen-free ways to relax and reconnect during their travels.” Each section will have kid-sized tables and chairs, free PA Turnpike-themed activity books and crayons, and seasonally themed decorations and coloring pages.
