TransCore Launches New Hope-Lambertville Bridge ORT System
The new system deployed by TransCore includes the company’s Infinity Digital Lane System® that incorporates VCATS™, an AI-powered vehicle classification solution, alongside additional tolling technologies.
The installation supports accurate transactions while establishing a scalable framework to support DRJTBC’s continued modernization of its toll-funded bridge network. The New Hope-Lambertville Bridge project was the first DRJTBC operational open-road AET conversion. The commission plans to convert six other legacy toll bridges, which is a key step in a broader tolling modernization program.

Senate Bill 831, signed into law by Governor Henry McMaster (R), is intended to allow the state to finance, plan, and construct infrastructure more quickly and efficiently. As WCSC News reports, “The new law will dissolve the nine-member S.C. Department of Transportation Commission in January and shift oversight to a single transportation secretary appointed by the governor. The secretary will serve in the governor’s Cabinet; a change supporters say will make it clearer who is responsible for the state’s roads.”
The act also allows construction of tolled express lanes, while existing lanes would remain free. Three areas considered prime “choice lane” candidates are Charleston, Greenville, and the border region near Charlotte, North Carolina.
