DRJTBC Will Start Prototype ORT Conversion Project Next Week

The Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission (DRJTBC) will launch a multifaceted New Hope-Lambertville (Route 202) Toll Bridge construction project on June 23. Among other things, contractors will remove the bridge’s obsolete toll plaza infrastructure and install a gantry to suspend electronic toll collection system equipment over the roadway. “The gantry will consist of a painted metal monopole supported by precast concrete columns having a fieldstone appearance.”

PFK-Mark III, Inc., has an $11.9 million contract to undertake the project and six similar bridge conversions. DRJTBC expects the New Hope-Lambertville project to be a prototype. When construction work is complete, TransCore will install a modern barrier-free collection system to serve all seven spans.

Israel-Iran Conflict Impacts US And Global Energy Costs

Both Israel and Iran have been targeting energy production and distribution facilities since their present conflict started on June 13, and that’s reduced output and caused a rise in both crude oil and natural gas market prices. So far, neither side has tried to disrupt shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, something energy sector investors are hoping the combatants will avoid. “Disrupting maritime activity through the strait would thus severely impact oil and gas markets, pushing prices much higher, possibly into three-digit territory.” Gas prices have increased modestly in the US already, but a significant increase in costs is possible if Middle East shipping is disrupted.
