Priya Jain Receives Nomination To Lead New Jersey DOT

On January 19, New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill (D) announced that Priya Jain is her nominee to be the next NJDOT Commissioner.

Ms. Jain, a civil engineer and business executive, is president of Mace Group’s Americas consultancy and focuses on delivery of large-scale infrastructure and capital projects. Earlier in her career, she held leadership roles at Atlas, Atkins , and CH2M. She serves on the Advisory Board for Civil Engineering at City College of New York, and is a previous member of the IBTTA Foundation board.

Commenting on the nomination, Governor Sherrill , who took office today, said, Ms. Jain “has advanced large scale transportation and major projects across New Jersey and the globe and understands how to build new infrastructure from the ground up. With Priya at the helm and Kris Kolluri overseeing both the Turnpike Authority and NJ TRANSIT, we are going to reimagine and streamline how transit is run in the state of New Jersey. Together, we’ll cut through red tape and make sure we’re fixing our aging roads and bridges, reducing delays on NJ TRANSIT, expanding bus services to communities across the state, and continue progress on the Gateway Project.”

If confirmed, Ms. Jain will replace Commissioner Francis O’Connor. Her nomination will require signoffs from the two Republican state senators who represent Morris County, her home.

Month-Long Rail Bridge Project Will Disrupt Travel In Mid-Atlantic Region

Travel within the metro New York City segment of the Northeast Corridor will be seriously disrupted between February 15 and March 14 by work to accomplish a transition from the existing Portal Bridge over the Hackensack River to its replacement span. NJ TRANSIT rail service detours and reductions will affect many commuters. In addition, Amtrak service between Philadelphia and New York will be curtailed.

Crews working two shifts per day, seven days a week will carry out the initial “cutover” to the new $2 billion span. A second period of service interruptions will occur in October before the new bridge is fully open.
