The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission (PTC) has upgraded Miles, the AI-powered chatbot on its website, to provide more timely information and make customer support easier to access.
Customers can now communicate in English or Spanish throughout a chat session. Miles also now provides live roadway condition and website updates, provides easier access to information about service plaza amenities, and allows users to submit immediate feedback about their experience. It can direct customers to emergency resources, including 911 for life-threatening emergencies and *11 for Pennsylvania Turnpike Safety Patrol roadside assistance, and *47676 for motorists stopped in unexpected traffic backlogs.
Miles has handled more than 44,000 conversations since it was introduced last September, resolving nearly 70 percent of questions within the chatbot experience. PTC said the service has helped reduce call center demand, allowing customer service representatives to devote more time to people who prefer personalized assistance or have complex questions.
“The recent updates to Miles reflect our commitment to continue improving our services to meet customer expectations, while allowing our customer service representatives to focus on those who want more personalized assistance,” PTC CEO Mark Compton said.
Customers can still reach a PTC customer service representative by phone or online. More than 300 employees support customers across the Pennsylvania Turnpike system each day.
