California Governor Aims To Ban Sales Of New Gas-Powered Cars By 2035

The Wall Street Journal (subscription required) reports in depth on Governor Gavin Newsome’s September 23 executive order directing that all new passenger vehicles (cars and pickup trucks) sold in California be zero-emission by 2035. The article looks at immediate reaction from lawmakers and industry stakeholders, potential obstacles to achievement of the 2035 goal and the order’s potential to influence action by other governors. Governor Newsome issued a news release to announce the executive order.
