Ohio Turnpike Safety Initiative Gets Results

WKBN reports, distracted driving was the target of a safety enforcement campaign undertaken by the turnpike commission and the Ohio Highway Patrol between August 18 and September 29. Troopers reportedly issue 60 citations within two distracted driving enforcement zones, the first established on the turnpike, where electronic signs were also used to increase driver awareness of safety measures. “Now that we have established precedent with distracted driver enforcement zones, I hope drivers will think twice before being tempted to use their phones. It’s just not worth the risk,” stated OTIC chief executive Ferzan Ahmed.
