Editorial: Spence Bridge Incident Should Break The Stasis Over Tolling

The Herald-Dispatch newspaper, published downriver from Cincinnati in the Ohio-Kentucky-West Virginia triangle, editorializes that the Brent Spence Bridge accident is yet another reminder of “how vulnerable aging infrastructure is to events that cannot be predicted but can be expected.” The newspaper, taking note of the cost and magnitude of infrastructure renewal, suggests that tolling, despite its unpopularity in the region and other places, “may become more necessary in high-traffic areas to keep up with infrastructure needs.”
