Michigan Toll Bridge Operator Will Discount Summer Weekend Tolls
On May 29, Bay City Bridge Partners (BCBP) announced that it will discount BC-PASS weekend toll rates this summer and exempt all vehicles from paying tolls on July 4. “We encourage drivers to celebrate their freedom to spend time with family and friends during the historic [July 4] event,” the company stated in a social media post.
BCBP, the United Bridge Partners subsidiary that operates two controversial municipal toll bridge concessions in Bay City, Michigan, will discount ETC toll rates by 50 percent on Saturdays and Sundays from June 6 through August 30. The discount will apply only to class 1 and 2 vehicles, which include passenger vehicles and vans, including such vehicles that are towing trailers. Eligibility is conditioned on a vehicle’s BC-PASS account being valid and having an adequate prepaid balance.
A spokesperson for a July fireworks festival welcomed the discount announcement, stating “This is a huge thing not only for the [festival], but for the community at large. It helps people move freely through Bay City during the festival and that in a way helps us. So, people can get where they need to go, and get there easier.”
