BATA Issues RFI On Replacement Of Customer Service Center Back Office System
The Metropolitan Transportation Commission’s Bay Area Toll Authority (BATA) announced it is seeking responses to a Request for Information (RFI) regarding the replacement of its FasTrak® Regional Customer Service Center Back Office System (BOS). BATA is evaluating its tolling back-office procurement approach and is seeking input from the industry to better understand alternative options. BATA intends to hold individual meetings with interested and qualified vendors to hear thoughtful responses to targeted questions. Responses to the RFI will be used to inform BATA’s approach to replacing its back-office.
The RFI is available for download on the MTC website at https://mtc.bonfirehub.com.
Participation in this RFI process will not impact (positively or negatively) BATA’s consideration of any proposal submitted in response to any potential resulting procurement.
BATA may contact responders via email or phone to schedule a one-on-one Zoom meeting to discuss the topics in the RFI.
Interested responders are asked to provide the information requested in Section 2, Schedule & Submittal Information of this RFI by 4:00 PM PST on Friday, May 16, 2025. Responses received after this date and time will not be considered. All responses relating to the RFI must be submitted in accordance with the instructions contained in Section 2, Schedule & Submittal Information.

WENJ-FM reminds listeners that the Cape May County Bridge Commission will implement the all-electronic tolling of its five bridges this Saturday, May 10. Eighty percent of the commission’s customers — the E-ZPass holders who account for about 90 percent of all transactions — will experience no change because of the weekend transition. Former cash-payers, who will start to receive bills by mail, will be subject to a $5.00 late fee if they receive a second bill, and a $50.00 violation penalty for each unpaid toll that thereafter remains unpaid.
The commission began planning for cashless conversion last September. It announced the implementation date in February.

US-based Everstrong Capital has submitted a 2,300-page project feasibility study for the proposed Usahihi Expressway, a 440-kilometer (273-mile) tolled facility that would cut travel time between Nairobi and Mombasa from 10.5 to 4.5 hours, Construction Review Online reports. The undertaking, structured as a Build-Operate-Transfer P3 project with a 30-year lease, also promises economic benefits and improved regional security. If all goes as planned, a four-year construction period will commence early next year.
The total cost is estimated at KES 452 billion to 468 billion (USD 3.5 billion to 3.6 billion). Everstrong, whose senior advisor, Kyle McCarter, is a former US ambassador to Kenya, plans to finance KES 129 billion (USD 1 billion) through domestic pension funds and financial institutions. International investors are targeted for an additional KES 323 billion (USD 2.5 billion).
Last week, Everstrong made an announcement about its plans to launch construction in the first quarter of 2026.
