Associated Press reports, “With a badly aging [I-10 Calcasieu River Bridge] as his backdrop, President Joe Biden stood in reliably Republican Louisiana [yesterday] to pressure GOP lawmakers to support his $2.3 trillion infrastructure plan — and yet express a willingness to compromise on the corporate tax hikes he’s recommending to pay the cost. Biden leaned into the stagecraft of the presidency by choosing to speak in the city of Lake Charles, which has been battered by historic storms and is home to a 70-year-old bridge that is two decades past its designed lifespan.”

"NTTA Reports Record Savings On $850 Million Refunding"

The Bond Buyer (subscription required) reports on the North Texas Tollway Authority’s recent “extremely successful” revenue refunding bond transaction. The Dallas-Fort Worth agency achieved a record net-present-value-savings of $191.5 million, according to authority CFO Horatio Porter. The $850 million issue was 8.5 times oversubscribed.

Walt Whitman Bridge Repair Enters New Phase On Monday

WTXF reports, the Delaware River Port Authority is set to begin a four-month repair project on the Philadelphia side of the Walt Whitman Bridge “that will funnel traffic on I-76 to just one lane in each direction. The Walt Whitman I-76 Corridor Rehabilitation Project will start on Monday [May 10] and impact a stretch of the highway between Broad Street (Exit 349) and Passyunk Avenue (Exit 347), according to a release from the Port Authority.” (Links inserted by TRN)

NTE Mobility Partners Schedules Lane Closures This Weekend

Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports, NTE Mobility Partners has scheduled a weekend closure of southbound I-35 West general purpose lanes for pavement repair work. Motorists will be allowed to use the adjacent southbound TEXPress toll lanes at no charge while the work is underway.
