Trucking Industry Leader Calls Transportation & Climate Initiative Bad Policy

In The Connecticut Mirror, Joseph Sculley, President of the Motor Transport Association of Connecticut, makes a case against the state adopting the regional Transportation and Climate Initiative. He characterizes the initiative’s proposed cap on emissions as a “self-raising tax” that would create a ““raid-able” source of revenue for covering non-transportation budget deficits. Sculley argues, “A better way to address emissions from the transportation sector is through federal government action, combined with voluntary incentive programs.”
