Annual Kansas Turnpike Survey Documents High Level Of Customer Satisfaction
The Kansas Turnpike Authority (KTA) released its FY 2025 annual report and the results of last year’s customer satisfaction survey today. What emerges from the documents, KTA said, is a picture of a “strong organization with its highest levels of customer approval following the successful transition to cashless tolling.”
Annual financial performance highlights cited by the authority were:
- Net position increased by $61.4 million
- Long-term debt decreased by 10.8 percent
- Operating revenue reached $171.9 million (a year-on-year increase of nearly $21 million)
- Investment in preservation and resurfacing projects totaled $24.8 million
FY 2025 was KTA’s first full year operating under a cashless tolling system.
KTA posted a slide deck summarizing its “overwhelmingly positive” customer survey ratings based on 23,617 responses. It particularly noted that:
- 95 percent of respondents viewed the turnpike as essential to Kansas transportation
- 91 percent expressed satisfaction with the cashless tolling system
- 57 percent said the toll system conversion increased their overall satisfaction
CEO Steve Hewitt commented that the authority “will continue to enhance the customer experience through projects like the widening of I-70 and increased compatibility with more tolling systems.”

Vietnam is preparing to launch a new “smart” all-electronic toll collection system on five sections of the state-operated North–South Expressway. Tests and checks are nearly complete, and start-up is scheduled for next month. The Vietnam Road Administration will operate the system.
Tolling will be barrier-free at expressway entrances. In addition to collecting revenue, the system has ITS components that can detect speeding, lane encroachment, and parking violations, and provide traffic incident alerts. Weigh-in-motion technology installed along the corridors automatically detects violations, issues warnings, and supports fine assessments.
In 2025, Vietnam reached a major milestone in modern expressway development, having completed more than 3,000 kilometers (1,864 miles) of highway.
