Success of RIDOT Truck Tolls Program May Influence CT Legislation on Tolls

Connecticut Post reports, with just four of twelve planned toll points in operation, Rhode Island’s revenue from truck tolls is slightly exceeding projections, a fact that “could boost the chance of a similar levy in Connecticut.” The article also notes, “While some in Connecticut fear truck drivers will find ways around highway tolls . . . , Rhode Island has found the number of trucks passing underneath its gantries increased over time, indicating drivers are not seeking alternate routes.”

M-CORES Southwest-Central Task Force Holds Two Public Meetings This Week

The Port Charlotte Sun reports, the M-CORES Southwest-Central Florida Corridor Task force will hold an all-day public meeting in in LaBelle today. “On Thursday,” the article notes, “the public is invited to the North Collier Park in Naples to provide comment and talk to state engineers about the project from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.”

Hit-and-Run Driver Rear-Ends Florida Turnpike Road Ranger

WSVN reports, police are searching for a hit-and-run driver who slammed into the back of a Florida Turnpike Road Ranger truck on Saturday. The road ranger was behind the wheel preparing to clear a stranded motorist assistance call when a car collided with the rear-end of his truck, causing him minor injuries. The driver and a passenger left the scene. Police later identified the passenger, but the driver, who may have suffered an injury, remains at large.
