Over 11 Million FASTag Stickers Were Issued in India This Month

Livemint reports that 11 million FASTag stickers were issued between December 1, when the National Highways Authority of India began its conversion to cashless tolling, and December 24. The article also notes that a driver is excused from paying the toll and given a zero transaction receipt when he or she passes through a collection lane whose FASTag reader is malfunctioning.

Performance of Turkey’s Toll Roads and Bridges Trends Downward in 2019

Hürriyet Daily News reports, “Turkey earned over 1.8 billion Turkish liras (some $322 million) in tolls from two bridges on the Istanbul Strait as well as roads in the first 11 months of this year, the Turkish Highways Directorate said on Dec. 25. Some 419 million vehicles went through the toll booths this January-November.” (According to a news agency cited by the newspaper, in 2018, “more than 463 million vehicles used Turkey’s toll bridges and roads, while fees totaled nearly 2.2 billion Turkish liras ($450 million).”)
