Tolls On Seven Bay Area Bridges Will Rise January 1

CBS News San Francisco reports, toll rates at the Bay Area’s seven state-owned bridges will rise on January 1. A one-dollar increase — it will take the passenger car rate to $7.00 — is the second of the three authorized under 2017 state legislation and approved by a majority of voters on 2018’s Regional Measure 3.

A Metropolitan Transportation Commission-Bay Area Toll Authority news release explains the rate change, provides discount information and cites projects that will receive funding through the rate increase. It also notes that proceeds of the increase must be placed into an escrow account until a pending legal challenge to Regional Measure 3 is resolved by the state supreme court.
