Pennsylvania Looks at Oregon's Experience in Advance of VMT Pilot

PennLive.com reports, “An Oregon program to implement a tax on how many miles people drive rather than how much gas they purchase has been well-received by those participating in it, an official said. Michelle Godfrey, a spokesperson for the Oregon Department of Transportation, said . . . most of the roughly 1,200 participants in the . . . program ‘love it.’ The program, however, is far short of its original goal of 5,000 drivers. A similar program is being run in Pennsylvania and Delaware through a small pilot study of 50 drivers.”
