MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Collaborate with writers, illustrators, word processors and subject matter experts (SMEs) in coordinating/preparing drafts for publication
• Research, analyze, and convert data into a written narrative
• Conduct interviews with staff, clarifying ambiguous passages in existing documents
• Develop manual content from reading technical specifications and interviewing subject matter experts
• Establish and enforce the use of standard formats and styles for technical documentation
• Review and revise existing documentation to ensure meets evolving requirements
• Perform quality and compliance reviews on technical documents to ensure consistency with RFP requirements
• Translate complicated information into practical language
• Work with development, integration and management staff to clarify, edit, coordinate inputs,
• Provide level of effort estimates and status of completion for assigned deliverables
• Identify gaps in information received and assign questions to SMEs, business owners and /or partners as required
• Develop manual content from reading technical specifications and interviewing subject matter experts

QUALIFICATIONS
• Knowledge of technical document genres (for compiling technical documents, such as user manuals, installation guides, software documentation, design documents and training guides
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills required, with a proven ability to understand and communicate technical concepts in a compelling, persuasive manner
• Vocabulary for discussing grammar, rhetoric, and style of a technical text
• Demonstrate technical aptitude and a thorough understanding of technical terminology Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Visio, Excel, and Microsoft Word)
• Experience writing, editing, compiling, validating and maintaining information for both technical and non-technical personnel in accordance with applicable standards
• Ability to work independently to develop documentation and conducting the research needed to ensure the documentation’s accurate
• The ability to read an RFP and transform the expressed requirements into a polished, compelling proposal is required

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field, Communications or English
At least 3 years’ experience working in technical sector performing technical writing or editing
Experience in the Transportation industry a plus

There are no Supervisory responsibilities with this position
