Small Plane Makes A Forced Landing On Ohio’s Turnpike

Associated Press (via WJW) reports, engine malfunction forced the pilot of a single-engine Cessna 150 airplane to make an emergency landing on the Ohio Turnpike outside Toledo on Friday afternoon. Maneuvering into the closed lane of a construction zone allowed the pilot to avoid collisions and traffic disruptions. No one was injured and no damage was reported to the roadway or the aircraft. An Ohio highway patrolman monitoring traffic speed in the construction area was on the scene as soon as the plane touched down. Turnpike spokesman Adam Greenslade said the incident appeared to be a first in the agency’s 65-year history.

The Blade filed a report on the landing.
