WSP SELLS hires Brian Doherty to head up transportation PERSONNEL
By Peter Samuel
Brian Doherty PE is the new manager of the Transportation Department at the Albany NY office of WSP SELLS, a subsidiary of WSP Group/Genivar, a major international professional services consulting firm head-officed in London UK. (The weeks old WSP merger with GENIVAR, the Canada-based group gives them 14,500 employees in 300 offices in 35 countries.)
Doherty, who is in his early 60s is credited with 38 years experience in transportation design, most recently design manager, major projects group for New York State DOT Region 8 in Poughkeepsie NY - up the Hudson River a bit north of New York City - TRMI country.
He has a bachelors in civil engineering from UMass.
The announcement says Doherty has been active in the Association of Transportation Engineers, in a local credit union, and - this one is intriguing - in an outfit called Walkway over the Hudson. That's the conversion of an abandoned railroad bridge in Highland NY to pedestrian use. We trust it collects a toll, like the walking bridge over the Rio Grande between Laredo TX and Nuevo Laredo Mexico.
WSP SELLS has contracts with Triborough Bridge & Tunnel Authority, New York State Thruway Authority and New Jersey Turnpike Authority, mostly for 'on-call' services. They are currently working on the RFK Bridge (the old Triboro Bridge) Toll Plaza Reconstruction, and the Bronx-Whitestone Bridge rehab for MTAB&T.
