TCA's staff newsletter "Toll Tales" tells of a remarkable toll coilector Joseph Morreale, one of the first they hired when they opened for business in 1996. Morreale who recently celebrated his 80th birthday at the California San Joaquin Hills pike seems adequately qualified to collect tolls - BSc in mathematics and economics Columbia U, engineering UCLA, US Army combat in World War II, Master Climber with Swiss Mountaineering Association, 30 years in sales and marketing, and skydiver. A New York native they call him Broadway Joe for his theatrical flare. He once produced a framed photograph of himself sans-trousers after an incident in which every other staffer at the pike had been provided with new uniforms but somehow his duds had gone astray.
