TOLLROADSnews background comment: SANDAG was a pioneer of HOT Lanes implementing the world's first dynamic pricing - in reversible lanes of I-15 going north out of the city. The project is being expanded significantly.
Open road toll collection and dynamic pricing has been automated from the beginning but the missing technology 'gap' is counting the occupants to see if the vehicle is eligible for a free ride or must pay a toll.
