By Peter Samuel
Gerry Carrigan who has been acting executive-director (ED) of the North Texas Tollway Authority for the past six months has been confirmed as full ED by the board of directors. The vote was unanimous.
Kenneth Barr, NTTA chairman of the board in a statement: "Gerry Carrigan has performed extremely well over the past six months as our interim executive. He has clearly demonstrated the skills, experience and knowledge needed to successfully lead the NTTA. The board has seen significant progress and improvement in a number of critical areas, specifically employee morale and effective communications between the board of directors and staff."
Carrigan joined the NTTA in 2008 as the assistant executive director of project delivery, where he was involved the Eastern and Western extensions of the President George Bush Turnpike and the completion of a four-level interchange at the Sam Rayburn Tollway and US75.
Carrigan succeeds Allen Clemson who resigned last October.
If recent history is a guide at 6 months Carrigan is one third way through his term -18 months based on the average (the mean - for engineers) of the last five EDs at NTTA.
