The Morning Call newspaper in Allentown PA reports that Richard C Cole, 59 of Chester county died at the wheel of his tanker truck traveling on the I-476 NE Extension of the Turnpike Sunday afternoon (July15.)

Another unnamed truckdriver - we'll call him Truckdriver #2 - of an 18 wheeler saw Cole's tanker truck and guessed he was in trouble because he was driving strangely slowly in the left lane of the Turnpike's northbound roadway.

Truckdriver #2 pulled his own truck over, jumped out, ran along the roadway up to the cab of the tanker truck, climbed in, pushed Cole aside, and safely brought it to a halt.

Ambulance men on the scene confirmed Cole was dead. Police said he appeared to have died of natural causes.

It doesn't take much imagination - our commeny - to see what a tragedy may have been averted by the heroic action of Truckdriver #2 intervening to bring Cole's tanker truck to a safe stop.
