Joliet City Advances Houbolt Road Bridge Project, Despite Request from Union Pacific and Mid-West Truckers for a Delay

The Herald News (Arlington Heights) reports that, “The Houbolt Road bridge project may have taken years to develop, but plans are moving fast enough now that some want to slow down. Representatives from the Union Pacific Railroad and Mid-West Truckers Association last week asked the city of Joliet to delay approval of a memorandum of agreement so they can find out more about what is in the MOU. The Joliet City Council decided to move ahead, with Mayor Bob O’Dekirk noting that the city would be in an awkward position slowing down the MOU after the state had ‘“answered our call”’ to get the project moving.”
